Sri Lanka Dull-blue flycatcher is One of the five montane endemic birds in Sri Lanka. You can specially spot this bird in Knuckles Mountain Range, Horton Plains National park, Peak wilderness sanctuary and hill areas in Sinharaja Forest Reserve.
Size – 14-15 cm
Dark grey-blue above. Underparts dirty white from lower breast downwards. Upper breast grey black. Bright dusky blue forehead. Black lores. Bill and legs black.
A very soft whistle, that often appears to be a from far even though made at very close range. Song, is a rich, sweet, prolonged strophe of sloe-paced, slurred, mournful notes that descend in short groups then rise abruptly to fall again in a similar pattern.
March to April , and again in August to September. Nest – open, a deep cup of fibers and debris well-padded with mosses, in a cavity of a tree or bank. Clutch 2-3 eggs with a light rose with light reddish brown spots on the broad side, measuring 21X15 mm..
